Nancy Sinnwell served in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa as a teacher of English as a
foreign language. She stayed for a third year to help her high school students
be successful in their final exam. After teaching middle school in Michigan for six
years and elementary school in Sacramento for 33 years, she retired and has
been a guest teacher for the last eight years. For over 40 years she has been a
volunteer at the local hospital. She is currently the secretary of the
Sacramento Valley Returned Peace Corps Volunteers to which she has been a
member since it formed in the 1980s. Nancy is also the Activities Director for
Friendship Force Sacramento. This group travels to various places in the world
and lives with a family for a week. Families from different countries also live
with the group’s members when they visit the USA. She enjoys traveling,
theater, movies, swimming, and hiking.
